A flag symbolising freedom flying from the porches of my neighbourhood while down the road criminals are executed. A President incorporating some Christian phrases and concepts while establishing nationalism. A nation justifying appalling acts by adjective, noun combinations, for example, "extraordinary rendition" and "pre=emptive strike". But this is your blog, not mine. (:-)

Yet as I watched the inaugural address my eyes filled with tears. Maybe, just maybe, things can be different. I found the address very moving.

For one thing, I have to come to terms with my past. Secondly, pray that Obama does what he said he will do. Thirdly pray that he is not compromised into ineffectiveness by the enormous pressures upon him.

Bill SchroederAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-170814845771372625.post-80411404320242806962009-01-23T07:06:00.000+13:002009-01-23T07:06:00.000+13:00You made me curious so I googled it. 10-15% of the...You made me curious so I googled it. 10-15% of the population are left handed so on the law of averages you might expect 4.4 -6.6 left handed presidents. The left handed ones have been:
Obama, Clinton, George Bush snr, Ford, Hoover, Garfield and Truman. Reagan was left handed but, so the rumour goes, switched over when he was at school. So 7, possibly 8 cack handed presidents - just above average. Interesting though that most of them have been recent, when handedness is simply not an issue, rather than through the first couple of centuries of the USA when it probably wasKelvin Wrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16682322819567886400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-170814845771372625.post-37714819471080224242009-01-23T00:45:00.000+13:002009-01-23T00:45:00.000+13:00What I noticed when I saw B Obama signing is that ...What I noticed when I saw B Obama signing is that he is left handed -how the tide has turned, Black AND left handed - he is lucky to be of a generation where this was not a problem for him at school.

I seem to remember reading some research somewhere about the correlation of LHandedness to giftedness, creativity etc - anyone know anything about that?Alden Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06601028197387499096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-170814845771372625.post-33607211858602360752009-01-21T15:03:00.000+13:002009-01-21T15:03:00.000+13:00Obama brings hope for the world.
